Part II: Crossing the Threshold: The Trasredon Anatii

The Anation, upon leaving the body, begins its journey across the Drus, the World Tree that binds the Three Worlds together. This journey is called Trasredon Anatii, the crossing of the soul. It is a passage of trial, transformation, and guidance, illuminated by Samos and shadowed by Giamos, yet balanced in Medios.

The Release from the Body
  • The soul detaches from the corporeal vessel, rising gently from the hearth of life.
  • The living are urged to light the Hearth Flame, facing Are (East), as a beacon of guidance and warmth.
  • Uēdiā prayers are recited to call upon the Matronae and Dervonae, guardians of the soul, asking them to shepherd the Anation safely through the first threshold.
  • Offerings of honey, grains, or milk are placed in the Nemeton as sustenance for the journey.

“From the body I rise; from the fire and water I am freed. Matronae, guide me. Dervonae, shelter me. Samos as light, Giamos as shadow, Medios as balance eternal.”

Crossing into Antumnos (Otherworld)
  • The first world of crossing is Antumnos, the realm of ancestors, where the soul confronts the echoes of its life.
  • Here, Samos reveals the truth of the Anation’s deeds, and Giamos tests attachments, regrets, and fears.
  • The soul may encounter spirits, both benevolent and shadowed, who reflect unresolved matters from the mortal plane.
  • Protective Uēdiā and offerings continue to guide the Anation and maintain harmony.

The soul moves westward, into the shadowed lands of Eri, where darkness teaches, and the Matronae and Dervonae provide light in reflection. Here, courage and virtue are weighed, not by judgment, but by resonance with the eternal flow.

Ascension Along Drus
  • Having crossed Antumnos, the Anation begins its ascent along the Drus, moving through the Three Worlds.
  • Are (East): The direction of illumination, wisdom, and new beginnings. Samos strengthens the soul, revealing clarity and understanding.
  • Dexsiuos (South): The direction of vitality, growth, and prosperity. The soul gathers the strength and nourishment for continued passage.
  • Tutos (North): The direction of challenge and wildness. Here, Giamos tests resilience, teaching the soul to navigate chaos without losing balance.
  • The journey is not linear; the soul may spiral, pause, or return, learning from the interplay of light, shadow, and center.
Medios: Harmonization
  • Upon nearing the center, Medios, the soul achieves balance.
  • Past deeds and virtues converge; regrets and shadows are integrated rather than destroyed.
  • The Anation is now ready to continue into eternity, either as part of the cosmic flow, as a guide for those living, or as one who will return to influence the world in another form.

“I am of the Three Worlds. I am of fire and water. I am of Samos, Giamos, and Medios. I walk the Drus, guided and protected. I am eternal.”

Guidance for the Living
  • The living play a vital role:
    • Continue offerings at the Nemeton and Hearth Flame.
    • Recite Uēdiā prayers for the safe passage of the Anation.
    • Reflect on Îanoi, cultivating virtues that resonate across the Three Worlds and aid the soul.
  • These acts strengthen bonds between the living and the dead, allowing the Anation to journey with clarity and peace.
