Part I: The Nature of Death
Death is not an ending, but a passage—a turning of wheel, a movement from one form of being to another. It is the return to Antumnos, the Otherworld, where the Anation is freed from the body, yet remains bound to the cosmos by the Triuradia Conuextion.
Just as the oak sheds its acorns and gives life to the forest, the soul leaves the corporeal realm to continue its journey through the Three Worlds. Aidus in Dubron—the fire in water—still burns within, for life and death are not separate; they are threads of the same eternal tapestry.
The living may see death as silence, but the soul perceives it as transformation. In this moment, Samos guides the soul toward clarity, revealing the light of truth and order. Giamos tests the soul with shadows, fears, and attachments that cling to the past. Medios, the center, maintains balance, ensuring that neither light nor dark overwhelms the Anation.
Death is the threshold:
- A crossing from the mortal world into Antumnos.
- A release from earthly desire and limitation.
- A return to the embrace of the Matronae and Dervonae, who nurture and guide the soul.
The nature of death is also a mirror for the living: the virtues cultivated in life—Îanoi such as Bravery, Piety, and Hospitality—become the compass of the Anation. The deeds of life shape the ease of the journey across the Drus. Every thought, word, and action resonates beyond the veil, influencing the soul’s passage through Samos, Giamos, and Medios.
Those who honor the dead through ritual, prayer, and Adberta offerings strengthen the connection between worlds. The hearth flame, the sacred Nemeton, and the directions all become tools to guide and protect the soul. Through these acts, the living and the dead are joined in the eternal flow of the cosmos, and the Anation walks the Three Worlds with grace and clarity.
Thus, death is neither enemy nor sorrow—it is transformation, guidance, and continuity. It is the Drus turning once more, and the Anation stepping into the eternal.
I am fire and water,
I am Samos and Giamos,
I am Medios, the threshold and the balance.
In death, I journey not alone,
For the ancestors watch,
Carnonos guides,
Nantosuelta cleanses,
Sucellos renews,
And I, the soul, flow eternal.
